Rambam Bekius
Review of Torah she'baal Peh Bracketed by Korban Pesach Pesukim (Hakdamah to the Mishneh Torah)
Show Notes

This afternoon (3/21/22), in our Rambam Bekius chavurah, we set out to begin our Pesach learning. I say "set out" because the bulk of shiur was spent reviewing a very important methodological point: why the Mishneh Torah must be learned in conjunction with the Written Torah. This led to a discussion of the relationship bewteen the Mishnah and the Mishneh Torah, and how the Mishneh Torah differs from other halachic works written before and after. Although this covered a lot of material we discussed in the past, it was a good review. We concluded by beginning to read the pesukim in Chumash about Korban Pesach, which we'll finish tomorrow, after which we'll go through the mitzvos in the Sefer ha'Mitzvos (בג"ה).

Bekius Disclaimer:
Note that this is a bekius chavurah - as opposed to an iyun shiur. Each session consists of us reading through the Rambam's writings together without much preparation on my part, and without going into depth by consulting commentaries or primary sources. For all these reasons, there are bound to be inaccuracies, errors, and other types of shortcomings which would not be acceptable in a prepared shiur, but are quite typical of a bekius chavurah. Please bear this in mind, and know what you're signing up for when you listen!
